Getafe v Brighton live: score, updates and line-ups

Full time in Madrid: Brighton see out a hard-earned 1-0 win at Getafe, with Yalcouyé's second-half header from Costinha's cross proving the only goal of the game. The Seagulls dominated possession and shots throughout, and although things got a bit feisty late on with yellow cards for Svoboda, Rutter and Mojica, they controlled the closing stages comfortably. Three minutes of stoppage time were added at the end, but Getafe never really threatened an equaliser as Brighton held firm for the win.

Brighton continue to see out the lead comfortably, still miles ahead on the ball and just edging the shot count further with Osman's low effort flashing wide after coming on for Boscagli. Getafe have had little beyond set pieces and a string of fouls, with Svoboda and Rutter both picking up late yellow cards as the game gets a bit scrappier, but the Seagulls look well in control heading into the closing stages.

Brighton have made several changes since taking the lead, bringing on Diego Gómez and De Cuyper for Groß and Hadjam, but the control has barely slipped - still over 65% of the ball and ahead on shots. Rutter had an effort blocked from the right of the box, while Getafe's response has mostly come through set pieces and a flurry of fresh legs of their own, with Ünal and Serrano both introduced. The Seagulls look comfortable protecting their lead with a quarter of an hour to go.

The breakthrough arrives! Costinha, so busy for Brighton all night, whips in a header across for Malick Yalcouyé to nod home from the centre of the box and send the Seagulls ahead in Getafe. Thoroughly deserved on the balance of play, given how much of the ball and territory Brighton have had.

Still Brighton's game to lose. Hadjam went close with a shot from the left of the box, and the Seagulls continue to dominate the ball and the shot count. Getafe's only real sniff came from distance, Satriano's long-range effort comfortably saved, but it's been another Brighton-heavy spell without the breakthrough.

Quiet start to the second period after the break, with Vuskovic settling in at the back following Dunk's withdrawal. The stats have barely moved since half-time, so it's been a steady continuation rather than fresh fireworks, though Brighton still hold the bulk of possession and the shot count advantage built up in the first half.

Brighton have taken a real grip on this one, dominating possession and peppering David Soria's goal without finding a way through. Hadjam, Yalcouyé and Hinshelwood have all had efforts in the last few minutes, with Soria doing well to keep out the Hadjam strike, while Getafe's best spell came earlier when Azón forced a smart save out of Verbruggen. Costinha's booking for a bad foul is the only blemish on an otherwise encouraging first-half showing from the Seagulls.
